Area Civic Education Hubs Urged to Be Vibrant for Positive Community Impact

Area civic education hubs established under the Department of Civic Education have been encouraged to be vibrant so they can have a positive impact across various sectors in their communities.

Evelyn Sumani, Principal Civic Education Officer in the Ministry of Local Government, said this on Tuesday after an area civic education hub was set up in TA Chigaru, where the pilot phase of the project is being implemented in Blantyre.

Sumani said the newly established committee, which comprises sectors such as education, agriculture, health, disaster, and security, is expected to coordinate civic education messages to, among others, bring about mindset change and foster development.

Glory Maulidi, District Programmes Officer for Blantyre at the National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE), said the organisation will work with the committee to, among others, build its capacity.

Senior Group Kayesa, under TA Chigaru, commended the initiative, saying it will address various development-related challenges in the area.
